Apologies for our delay in getting today’s sightings out –

Lovely high tide for our Winter Safari Cruise this morning, with 3 Ruff, 1 Green Sandpiper and 120 Lapwing on the flooded fields at Swineham, as well as 2 Marsh Harrier over the reedbeds and one distant White-tailed Eagle. There was a Red-throated Diver in South Deep, and Brownsea Lagoon was teeming with 400+ Black-tailed Godwit, 20 Bar-tailed Godwit, 320 Dunlin, 5 Sanderling, 9 Greenshank, 25 Spoonbill, 300 Avocet, 200 Oystercatcher, 40 Curlew and 5 Grey Plover. An afternoon count of Lytchett Bay included 54 dark-bellied Brent Geese, 400 Wigeon, 1 Avocet, 95 Black-tailed Godwit, 50 Redshank, 1 Spotted Redshank and 3 Greenshank.
