Harbour Update – posted 24/06/22

Last nights Nightjar walk spectacular (as Nightjar sightings often are) with multiple Nightjar dancing around our group at Slepe Heath and even landing on small pine trees next to us. The event started well too with views of female White-tailed Eagle G801 out across the Wareham Channel and also male Osprey 022 seen catching a fish in the mouth of the River Piddle. We have more up and coming Nightjar walks planned for the next five weeks, so to book on CLICK HERE. Today there were now 3 Roseate Tern on the Brownsea Lagoon and 4 Spoonbill. At Lytchett Fields Green Sandpiper numbers have already increased to 4 and there was also an early Common Snipe back on site there. Out in the Wareham Channel 8 Great Crested Grebe were on the water and A Great White Egret was again at the top end of the channel near Giggers Island. Sadly yesterdays visiting male White-tailed Eagle has disappeared already and gone back north, but a pass over Red Kite at Swineham was a token substitution.
